BIO

Ingrid Gatin and Ryan Dutchak are working under a new name: Ingrid and the Kaleidescope. Together they play with looped violin, guitar, beats and Ingrid's vocals, accordion, and keyboard. The pair have been writing and recording tracks for a year and are just about ready to show it to the world. They're building clouds of colours, layers of simple, soulful, and sultry sounds, and the result is tantalising.

They've been traveling in Mexico for three months this winter, recording and producing songs and staying in a one-month artist residency (Xochi Quetzal in Lake Chapala). Swimming and living in the jungle and exploring Mexico has kept their inspirational juices flowing. The duo collaborated with musician/producer Omar Alejandro from Guadalajara, who infused 'Nest of Bees' with specially made beats to add the perfect depth and rhythm.

Ingrid has played Pop Montréal, the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and has been lucky enough to play some of Canada’s most charming festivals, including the Brandon Folk Festival, The Artswells Festival, Tiny Lights, and The Dooryard Arts Festival. She has toured and played with many talented bands including Hawksley Workman, Half Moon Run, Whitehorse, and a plethora of beautiful indie artists too numerous to name.

She first broke into Canada’s music scene in 2009, with her debut full-length album Broken Tambourine. After gaining immediate and well-deserved attention from national CBC radio, Broken Tambourine entered into the top 20 on Earshot Charts soon after its release.

“Ingrid Gatin’s got a piano, an accordion, and a tear-jerkingly beautiful voice.” -Stylus magazine.

Ingrid's latest release 1000 Lives is a luscious and instrospective recording, created with Howard Bilerman (The Arcade Fire, Basia Bulat, Belle Orchestre) in Montréal at his studio hotel2tango. The album found its wings with help from musicians like renowned world musician Amir Amiri, drummer David  Payant of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Edwin Huizinga of the Wooden Sky, and Howard Bilerman of the Arcade Fire playing on the album as well as recording and producing.

“I’ve listened to many a sexy voice in my time, but, with 1000 Lives, Winnipeg’s Ingrid Gatin elevates sultriness to a veritable art form.” -Vancouver Weekly

Ingrid toured the album across Canada, Europe and showcased at UK festival Focus Wales, The Folk Alliance, and NXNE. The album also received significant attention thanks in part to a fully-funded indiegogo campaign, publicists at Take Aim Media, and Winnipeg-based label Pipe & Hat/Fontana.

Ingrid and the Kaleidescope will be releasing a new album from their collaboration in late 2015, and are continuing to look for the right label/mangement for their new music.
